The CF-53 semi-rugged Toughbook is an excellent option for anyone who needs a durable laptop that won’t break the bank. The CF-53 is the successor to the Panasonic Toughbook CF-52. It has a similar design, but Panasonic upgraded it with more up-to-date technology, improving the processor, RAM capacity, and the overall build of the machine. Check out some of the features on this rugged laptop to see how it could benefit you as a work computer.

Large, Rugged Display

One of the things Panasonic has changed with the Toughbook CF-53 is its 14-inch screen. The screen's resolution is 1366 x 768, and, while this isn't entirely clear enough to do things like video editing or gaming, it's more than enough to complete your everyday tasks. The screen isn't as luminescent as its predecessor, measuring 850 nits, but it still is bright enough to be used outdoors. The model that Bob uses in the video even features a touch screen.

Perfect For Working Outdoors

The CF-53 Toughbook is compatible with a vehicle docking station, allowing you to use it while out on the road. It has some upgrade options that help it perform better in the field. If your CF-53 has a GPS installed, you can plan and navigate routes using geolocation data. A mobile data card may be added, perfect for anyone who will be working in environments where there is going to be limited Wi-Fi. The mobile data card allows your laptop to connect to 4G LTE, similar to your phone.

Semi-Rugged Laptop With Plenty of Ports

Another helpful thing about the CF-53 is the fact that it still supports several legacy ports, allowing for the use of equipment that still uses them. One of these ports includes the 9-pin serial port on the laptop's rear. Some of the other ports on the Panasonic Toughbook CF-53 include a VGA Port, HDMI port, USB 2.0 and 3.0 Ports, a SIM card for broadband, and a PCMCIA slot. On top of having plenty of port options, the port covers on the Panasonic CF-53 keep these ports secure in the harshest environments.

Compatible With Docks: Desktops and Vehicle Docks

On the bottom of the laptop, the CF-53 has a docking port. This port lets the user connect it to a vehicle or desktop dock. These docks offer your laptop more port options that are convenient for your car or desk. You can undock and leave everything plugged into the dock, so you have to put your computer back in the dock to connect to everything.

Convenient Carry Handle: Ideal For Working on the Go

One thing that makes a rugged computer stand out from a consumer-grade laptop is the carrying handle that they all feature. The Toughbook CF-53 is no exception. It makes the computer much easier to carry on the go.

Durable And Comfortable Keyboard

The keyboard on the CF-53 is the same keyboard that you can find on the CF-31. Usually, the CF-53 comes with the standard keyboard. Then, there is the option to upgrade to a backlit chiclet keyboard or a backlit rubber keyboard.

If you have watched Bob's Rugged Rundown Reviews before, you know how much he loves the keyboard. He described the CF-53 keyboard as a nice, full-size keyboard with bouncy keys.
